Your New Favorite Smoothie. Trust Me.
Me.
Also me.
In case you couldn't tell, I'm cray for the cado, y'all. It is SO GOOD and SO GOOD FOR YOU, so that's a solid win in my book. Did you know that avocados have more potassium than bananas? THEY ARE THE OVERACHIEVERS OF THE PRODUCE WORLD. SORRY FOR THE CAPS, BUT THIS IS EXCITING STUFF.
So, I've been eating roughly an avocado a day lately, and have tried to come up with new ways to sneak it into other things that I love. For instance, I have a smoothie that I make often that is pretty bangin, in my opinion. It's basically all of my favorite things living together in perfect harmony - coffee, chocolate, and banana. But, this week? I made it an even more magical start to my morning by introducing the ever fabulous avocado. Guys.... it's awesome. The smoky flavor of the avocado almost makes it taste like a dark chocolate and it adds this awesome creaminess. I'm in love. So I figured it was only fair that I share my creation with the world. This must be how Edison felt when he gave the world the light bulb, yeah? Exactly the same. Anywho, the recipe is below and it is lovely. Do yourself a favor and make one tomorrow.
The Smoothie of Champions
1 banana (use a frozen one for an extra frothy experience)
1/2 an avocado
1 packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast in Rich Milk Chocolate (you can substitute coco powder, if you prefer, but the Instant Breakfast is super filling, so I usually go with that.)
1 cup of black coffee (I brew mine over ice, so I don't have to wait for it to cool off. I've been using these awesome Banana's Foster coffee beans I got at Southern Grind in Orange Beach, AL. SUPER adorable coffee shop, and this flavor just goes really well with the other ingredients.)
Ice cubes, OR you could make the coffee the night before, freeze 'em, and then you kill two birds with one stone. Genius. Too bad I never think of it at the appropriate time.
Optional: Throw in a 6 oz container of Liberte's Cappuccino yogurt. It is so good and makes it extra creamy.
Without the yogurt, this comes in around 380 calories (add 260, if you add the yogurt)! I'm not a nutritionist or anything, but that sounds pretty good to me. And it is SO filling. So there you have it! My newest obsession! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
You, after you've had this smoothie...
